In the Name of Love

She thought it would make them closer
It was supposed to
At least that's what he said
He touched her in bed but did not penetrate beyond her flesh
Yes she said yes, but her heart did not consent to shallow pleasures
Their measure to light to burden any scale
Dirty fingernails that sullied her skin
Pretending that this is what she wanted all along
To belong to that elite society known as "grown"
Ending up alone
A piece of her soul missing
The innocence of kissing now gone forever
Replaced by clever boys
With clever lines
That twist her mind into thinking that they care
Unaware that conscience escapes them
She will mistake them over and over again for men who've reached maturity
As she hands them her purity
In the name of finding love
